Stereotypes everywhere you look. Television, Education, your parents and and and...
That's why most children grow up adepting these stereotypes although that should be outdated meanwhile. Other reasons may also be responsible for that but that is one of the major I can think of. It's stupid but girls are not supposed to play with space crafts... luckily not all parents do fit to that stereotype.

Err... that depends what you understand by the term "better". Statistics say women cause less accidents because women usually drive with more care and do not get as agressive towards other drives as men do. Those statistics don't say who can handle the car better in a critical situation which very much depends on the person itself.
